Your b/w work is getting better and better. I'm repeating myself, but again, light and tonal range are beautiful. The thing I do wonder about: the sun is coming from the left and rather from behind as well, so how did you get all the light on Federicas face? And so soft? Did you use the flash, and if so, direct or indirect? There is a reflection in Federicas eyes which would indicate it was a straight flash.

She's got a lovely but somehow shy smile. You got her just at the right moment.

I used nothing but the camera, no flash, no reflectors... we were outside and I was not prepared... and I was amazed by this shot as after I shot it I noticed that I was kinda against the light. let's say I got lucky :D

It's strange you say she's got a shy smile, she always smiles so naturaly. I mean she's always willing to smile and doesn't feel shy (she says she loves her teeth and her smile :D).

Clearly an awesome camera that is able to make the best of the available light.

I had a look at that particular pic again, and still her smile seems kinda shy to me. So I see something that's not really there. Anyway, she's got good reason to feel good abour her teeth and her smile. She is pretty and she looks very sophisticated, intellectual even. This is meant in the positive sense of the word. Hope she won't mind all this interpreting of her person, even if it is way off at times. :-)

I wish I could tell you some handy secret... but the fact is that the background (trees) was far from the subject and the 4.5 was enough. On the other hand I was near the subject, you know 70mm doesn't go far...
